Fiction- Psychological Thriller

Three Words: Clever, Chilling, Deliberate

Review: I couldn’t help myself to the newest book by Hendricks and Pekkanen. The story itself is much different than The Wife Between Us, but the suspense and surprise is ever present. Much like The Wife Between Us, this book is written from multiple perspectives and is broken into three parts. It is impressive to me to think that two authors worked on this, as my assumptions lead me to believe that stories written by more than one person would feel disjointed. This, like their last book, is anything BUT disjointed. The narration is impeccable and there is no unintentional detail. I think if there were more thrillers out there written like this, so cleverly interwoven and detailed, it would be my new genre. I will have to wait and see, but for now, I will stick to these two awesome female authors!

Summary: *no spoilers* Jess is living in NYC working as a make-up artist. Like so many others in the big city, she is in need of money, but her need for money is a bit different than her peers. Money seems to be a driving factor for her decisions, specifically when it means she can help her family. Dr. Shields has an impeccable record as a psychiatrist and is conducting a study on morality and ethics, a study that pays quite well. These two end up in a tangled web of morally wrought scenarios and thought provoking ethical considerations that leave the reader questioning everything. Who is in the right? Who is in the wrong? What would I do?
