Has it really been 5 months since you have known what I have been up to?
Well- I have been getting muddy, eating sticks, practicing dock diving, rolling in deer pee and trying to convince everyone that my parents give me no food or attention in hopes they will give me treats and rub my belly.
Honestly, not much has changed, except the weather. It is finally summer and that means water, the river house and chasing ducks.
Speaking of ducks, there are some fluffy white gals inhabiting the river this season. They want to be friends. It is hot girl summer after all. They come swimming toward me and I swim to them, then they turn around and I turn around. They swim toward me again, and I swim to them. It is a fun game we play. My dad eggs me on and my mom laughs when this happens, but then she seems to get nervous about it if I get too close to them. I keep trying to get her to understand that they are my people! They swim! That’s more than I can say about my fur brother, Waylon.
There is another duck that does NOT want to be my friend, though. And I think that is why my mom gets so nervous. I sprint down the boat ramp as soon as mom lets me outside to check and see if she is there, and if she has changed her mind on being friends. She quacks and quacks and quacks and quacks. Then she flies and flies and flies back and forth until mom puts me back in the house. She is a jealous duck I think.
I had a birthday in June. I am three now. I got a stuffed crocodile and even a month later, it is still in really good shape. I’m growing up and doing good stuff now.
Oh good stuff I gotta tell you about! I do a lot of sleeping in bathtubs or in showers, it is really relaxing. Bad stuff though... I don’t like it when someone comes in and disturbs my rest.
I also have been doing a lot of snuggling in beds and couches- dad has gotten much better about understanding my need to cuddle on the furniture and therefore doesn’t tell me to get down anymore. That’s good stuff. Also, when my cousin Boda was visiting from Maine on the Fourth of July, Dad let me lay ON. THE. TABLE. He knows I am so darn scared of the crazy booms that he will let me do anything I want for a whole three days. Next year I gotta try to remember to do more.
I will try to send word of my adventures sooner next time, until then, happy tails!
