Some Daisy Doings

Well this morning my mom was calling for me and calling for me. She had no idea where I was. I could hear her looking downstairs, going outside, and then asking my human brother if he had seen me. He didn’t know where I was either, he was busy watching his dinosaur show. After about 10 minutes, she came upstairs and I wagged my tail at her “See, Mom? I am so good at just relaxing right?” She told me I had to get down off her bed, I don’t understand why she wasn’t happy to see me, I mean, she was looking for me for a while! When I hesitated just to make sure she was serious about me having to get down, she rolled her eyes at me and said that my fur brother Waylon and I have been “ridiculous” lately.

I am pretty sure she meant ridiculous in a good way, like ridiculously awesome! Waylon and I have been on HIGH ALERT the past few weeks. All the snow has been fun to play in, plus all of the birds, squirrels and deer around here have been easier to see and track. In this time I have helped Waylon catch a bird and a squirrel. Waylon got in trouble for bringing the bird inside the house, so I pretended as though I had no part in it. The squirrel though, that was a joint venture. I scared it out of it’s mind and Waylon was able to maneuver through the snow more quickly than me and snatched him up! We then brought the squirrel as a gift to mom and

dropped it on the porch. She didn’t seem happy and wouldn’t let us in. Later, she came out, picked it up with a towel and threw it in a green bin outside. She kept telling my human brother that she buried it, but I know the truth, she put it in that bin so she could enjoy it all by herself. Waylon and I have decided we are going to do more for her, she deserves it! But really, other than hunting, we just run. Run, run, run, run.

The neighbors are feeding the deer, mom says it isn’t a good idea, but I LOVE IT. I sit and stare out the door for hours, and growl at them. It is so fun, you don’t even know! Last night, Dad yelled at me to stop. I tried to tell him that I was just protecting our yard, but he was very angry and in his pajamas, so I didn’t argue. The snow makes it easy for me to see them. At night, the big glowing thing in the sky makes the snow glow and BOOM, my laser focus is impressive, I have to admit. Mom gets annoyed with Waylon and I when we sleep during the day now, but she will understand when we keep watch at night. Gotta protect our own, ya know?

In other news, it was Waylon’s birthday last month (Jan 22), and I was so excited about the snow that I forgot to tell everyone. He shared some of his birthday treat with me, but not enough in my opinion. When it is my turn, I will make sure I ration his portion.

Until next time, happy tails!
